Sami Cronk is a multidisciplinary visual artist based in NYC.
    They're interested in imagining and building comforting worlds using both hypertactile materials and digital tools;

This body of work is the culmination of sculptural paintings and digital illustration projects from a recent residency and the kitchen floor. Some past paintings have been reimagined here, indicative of recreating our realities, identities, and self/ves. Other pieces are experimental compositions containing graphics of randomly generated words, reworked into canvases and plaster. Recurring themes in Sami's work include rejecting narrative-identity*, reliving segments of childhood (Y2K), and exploring/celebrating jewishness through a playful and gender-critical lens.

*Narrative identity is the internalized and evolving story of the self that a person constructs to make sense and meaning out of their life

    statement notes cont..

    recently i mostly think about:

    • not knowing who i am
    • websites, blogging, and HTML
    • ASMR videos
    • the late artist SOPHIE's 'Immaterial':
Tell me, where do I exist?
      We're just
      Im-ma-ma-material, immaterial
      Immaterial boys, immaterial girls
      Im-ma-ma-material, immaterial
      We're just, im-ma-ma-material (I could be anything I want)
      Immaterial, immaterial boys (anyhow, anywhere)
Immaterial girls (any place, anyone that I want)
      Im-ma-ma-material, immaterial
      We're just...
I was just a lonely girl in the eyes of my inner child
